Light Switch

My youngest daughter who is almost 16months really enjoys standing on a chair turning the light switch off and on, then on and off. Well my oldest Taryn, has had a switch turn on in her since beginning middle school. We're dealing with new homework challenges already, the constant need to better communication and a real heart felt desire to honor God. We've been having devotions together, just me and all the children on Monday's and Friday's during breakfast. Taryn, having her new Bible wants to underline and read the verse or passage we're discussing. This is just pretty neat.

Memorable Trip

I left with Taryn in the afternoon on the motorcycle and it was a great evening camping at Lake Louise State Park. The next day we went to Burr Oak, IA and visited the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum. After that we were headed for lunch and the motorcyle broke down. Taryn said it will be an trip that will not be forgotten. She loved getting the bible and it was was good time of discussion and conversation, just the two of us. I'm excited about the challenges as we trust God through this school year. I am sure that God is going to work in my life as well using Taryn to help me be a better parent and follower of Christ.

The Journey

I’ve been thinking about tomorrow for about a year now, an over-night with my daughter Taryn. Next week she begins 6th grade, Middle School at Lincoln. I’ve dedicated my life for the last 15years to Student Ministry and now I have a middle schooler in my ministry. There are a lot of fears and questions I have, but over-all I’m excited for the Journey of a soon to be teen in my home.

During this over-night I hope to share with her a bit, laugh together and I have a gift I want her to have.

Thanks Taryn for being my daughter,
